About of Nepali Soil

Keeping cultural roots alive through the work itself

of Nepali Soil exists to keep indigenous craft forms in active use. We work directly with artisans across the Himalayan valleys, so that the making, the materials, and the knowledge behind each piece stay connected to the people who hold them.

Our catalog is deliberately narrow. We stock native Nepali products, indigenous handicrafts, and art rooted in this place, and we present each piece with enough context to show where it comes from.

Materials and making

Shaped by the land it comes from

Much of our work begins with raw materials gathered from the region. Wild nettle, lokta paper, and valley clay each carry their own texture and limits, and the forms that artisans shape from them follow those qualities closely.

Lokta is pounded by hand into a sheet with a soft, fibrous surface. Traditional looms are set up to weave slowly, so the cloth holds its own irregularities. We value these marks as evidence of the process rather than flaws to hide.

Our commitments

How we work

A few principles guide what we carry and how we work with the people who make it.

Collaboration

Fair work with makers

We build lasting relationships with artisans and pay fairly for their time and skill. Each collaboration is shaped around the maker's own methods.

Authenticity

Products with genuine origin

Every item in the catalog is a native Nepali product, indigenous handicraft, or work of art. We do not carry generic imitations or goods made to look local.

Quality

Enduring, considered objects

We choose pieces made to last, with materials and construction that hold up to daily use and gain character over time.
